as an entrepreneur, one of the biggest things in life is RESPONSIBILITY. it is important that this is understood in its complete sense and lived upto within oneself... I present to you, a definition that has worked well for me.....
RESPONSIBILITY is not burden, fault, praise, blame, credit, shame or guilt. All these include judgments and evaluations of good and bad, right and wrong or better and worse. They are not responsibility. They are derived from a ground of being in which the self is considered to be a thing or an object rather than a context.
RESPONSIBILITY starts with the willingness to experience yourself as cause in the matter.
RESPONSIBILITY starts with the willingness to deal with a situation from and with the point of view, whether at the moment realized or not, that you are the source of what you are, what you do and what you have. This point of view extends to include even what is done to you, and ultimately, what another does to another.

gettin started.. starting to think about it!

So…
Risk, initiative and all that jazz….
How does it all occur to oneself?
In my case, it happened over quite sometime. For quite a while it just happened by default within my mind and then it was done by design as I became more aware of the way I was thinking and feeling about making a career. A lot of us grow up thinking of a dream job. Somewhere, some of us say, I don’t want a boss. A few out of these ‘i-don’t-want-a-boss’ or ‘I’m-my-own-boss’ actually think of going down that path. Again, there are those who choose to do that with some experience under their belts, some who like to start early and gain relevant experience as they go along. I’ve met both kinds, successful and otherwise, and its been hard to judge what’s better. In my conclusion, it depends on what kinda person u r! if you can handle a life like that of a ‘dashing car’ and seem to enjoy it, then start early.

I can talk about starting early, coz I’ve done that myself….
I’ll share with you my experience of talking to those who either plan to start in sometime (they are currently gaining ‘experience’ in jobs) or believe that starting later is better. Some of these conversations that I’ll mention, have been intense, given sleepless nites to those involved, been laughed about, changed lives and given rise to some initiatives too.

All of this and more as I proceed with this blog in the days to come….
Entrepreneurship… A ‘buzzword’ these days with the economy going the way it is. Or do I say, the way it was going in the pre-slowdown days. Lets take this step by step, and the step one, of course, is to understand something from the basics. So we start with the definition

By definition, an entrepreneur is – a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, esp. a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.

Anylizing the important elements in this definition –

BUSINESS-
A person, partnership, or corporation engaged in commerce, manufacturing, or a service; profit-seeking enterprise or concern.
The purchase and sale of goods in an attempt to make a profit.
An occupation, profession, or trade: His business is poultry farming.

INITIATIVE-
A leading act or step; Leading action.
One’s personal, responsible decision.

Understanding these terms in sufficiently describes an entrepreneur as someone who’ll engage in some kind of commerce related activity, manufacturing/trading a product or providing a service etc. by taking it up as an initiative and leading the way in that particular arena.

Who am i … and in what capacity am I writing this blog?
I am an Indian, 26yrs old (as in 2008), and am an entrepreneur, officially since July 2007. I say officially coz that’s wen the company really started. I believe I’ve been an entrepreneur in the making for a quite a while now. I write this blog to share my thoughts and my opinions and stuff that I have learnt along the way. I donot guarantee that your journey as an entrepreneur will be similar to me in any form coz I truly believe, each one of us who choose to go down this path, face our own realities as individuals and companies. There are pointers and guidance available to all at a macro level, but that’s like telling a kid – this is a chocolate, its sweet and it has to eaten in a certain fashion. One can list out the good and the bad about the chocolate but what one cant do is teach or tell someone how to relish it. One cant control how the person feels after eating the chocolate. So with anything else and stuff that’s mentioned on this blog. I hope though, that my experiences here will help someone learn/understand situations better and if not any of that, be entertaining to read!! :-)

Read on .... i promise to keep updating this blogs every once a while... do share with me, your views and opinions not just about this blog but on the topic also!
